What Exactly is Network Marketing/Direct Selling?
Network marketing, sometimes referred to as direct selling, is simply a distribution system whereby goods or services from a manufacturer are sold to the end user via a network of independent distributors, or consultants. It is an extremely effective system that cuts out the “middleman” found in most industries. Network marketing is NOT an illegal pyramid scheme based on taking advantage of people. It is a serious business for serious people.
Why Network Marketing/Direct Selling?
There are many advantages to being involved in network marketing, especially for first time business owners. The low start-up costs, minimal overhead, and no need to carry inventory make network marketing a very viable business for just about anyone to get in to. And, as a home-based business, network marketing can offer many of the tax advantages associated with owning your own business.
However, perhaps the most significant benefit to network marketing is that it enables one to leverage their time. For example, most people building a successful network marketing business do so by dedicating a few hours each week to selling and promoting their products or services, and another few hours each week to sponsoring and teaching others how to duplicate their work. As this process continues, you create compound growth that can lead to hundreds or even thousands of people coming into your business. This, in turn, creates compound income since you benefit directly from those whom you sponsor directly and indirectly into the business.
Deciding on a Network Marketing Company
Not all network marketing companies are created equal, nor is there a perfect fit for all. In order to be successful, you need to find a company that offers products or services you can be passionate about. Additionally you want to make sure that the products or services are consumable and that they meet current marketplace demands. You also want to talk to others whom work in the business to ensure there is a simple, proven and duplicatable system in place that will become your roadmap for success.
In Summary
Network marketing is a “people” business that can significantly expand your circle of friends. With network marketing, there are no big capital requirements, no special education or skills needed, and with no geographical limitations to your business, it enables you the opportunity to travel, if so desired, have fun, and enjoy a lifestyle of abundance.

Barbara what you say makes sense.
Have been into this business for a while , can’t understand why more people don’t consider the benefits . I live in Australia and we are not going to get much in the way of benefits ( age pension ) in the future . We are encouraged to put a share of income into Superanuation , with high start up costs you cannot get enough into super to give you a reasonable ammount to retire on. For example , by age 35 I would need to contribute more than 30% of my income to at 65 have around $40,000 a year to live on, yeah right . Super funds and Investment institution returns are about 18% , blue chip companies are doing better . So why bother .
