Prospere Magazine Poll Results July 14 to July 21: Women and the MBA

It’s not surprising that 40% of you said: Timing.  Most people go directly to law or medical school, while students are in their late 20s/early 30s when they get their MBA.  That’s when women start thinking about marriage/family.

Almost as many participants said: Most people in a traditional MBA program are in finance/management.  Finance and especially management is still more “Old Boys’ Network” than law or medicine, at 30%

20% believed it had to do with recruitment

10% chose other (please elaborate)

Do you really think it’s timing?  How would YOU get more women into MBA programs?  Do we need a television show with a hip female exec before women start applying?  Will that even work?  Business isn’t like law.  You don’t need a business degree to work in the industry.

This week, Prospere Magazine is hitting Hollywood.  This past Friday, The Dark Knight opened in theatres across North America and grossed over $155 million this past weekend, breaking the previous record held by Spiderman 3.  Did you go?

The poll is now up and running and will be live until Monday evening at 10:59 pm.

  1. I have not seen Dark Knight yet, but heard it was really good. I hope to go this weekend!
