This week, we debut our accessories company column. Each week, a new designer and/or company will be profiled by Prospere Magazine. The first up is Chinese Laundry, a shoe company launched in 1981 by Robert and Carol Goldman 10 years after its parent company, Cels Enterprises, Inc. was founded. Not only has Chinese Laundry caught the eyes of celebrities such as Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively and and Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, it is also known for its affordablility. Prices tend to range around $65-$100 for their main brand. Chinese Laundry also has other lines, including Little Laundry, a line of girls’ shoes and On Your Feet, a younger/more casual line. In addition to shoes, Chinese Laundry also has a line of handbags. In addition, Chinese Laundry offers vegan shoes.

Two great shoes for fall (both non-vegan):

For the fall line, Chinese Laundry has included knee length boots, such as the Tahoe. This suede boot, which has a 1″ heel, is a perfect pair with skinny jeans or knee length skirts! The Tahoe boot comes in three colours: black, dark grey and brown. Cost: $99 US, sizes 5 to 11.

Another great shoe for fall is the Arliss, an ankle boot with a zipper on its top side. Arliss, made out of leather, has a 4 1/2″ heel and a 3/4″ platform and would look amazing with a short skirt and tights or jeans! Arliss comes in two colours, black and brown. Cost: $99 US, sizes 5 to 11.

Chinese Laundry is available for purchase online at the Chinese Laundry site or zappos as well as brick and mortar stores such as David Z Inc., Nordstroms, Macy’s and Balisi.
