Neiko Designs is a small New York-based hand made bag company. Launched the summer of 2006, Neiko’s work was inspired by the lack of timeless classics in today’s bag market. The company does understand that fashion has its trends, but it does not allow the fashion industry to dictate what they do. They just go with the flow. In addition, Neiko does not create new collections by the season. After all, furniture is designed for everyday use – and bags are too.
Each line of bags at Neiko Designs has its own unique style and name. Bag names from the Rogue line (leather bags with wooden handles), for example all are easily-pronounced, four letter names. Sinclaire, a line of more traditional-looking leather bags, is given more classical-sounding names, such as Winton and Amelia. The Smith bags are unisex and given genderless names. Neiko Designs’ tote bag line, all made with 100% cotton, however, do not have names, but are numbered.
Here are a few bags Prospere Magazine likes:
Dandies 05: This is absolutely adorable! The bag is made with 100% cotton and the design reminds me of an old-world market! Great for a short trip to the supermarket! The bag is $27 US.
Amelia: A beautiful, traditional women’s leather bag from the Sinclaire line. Cognac-coloured, the bag is 15″ x 13″ x 3″ – a great size for work as it not only can hold a portfolio or small lap top, but also has a pocket for your cell phone! The Amelia is $275.
Sawa: A unisex/men’s bag from the Rogue line. Made of dark brown leather with a wooden handle and metal feet. It is much lighter than the traditional briefcase, yet gives a classic look that one cannot seem to get with a laptop bag. A great bag to use for work! The bag is 13″ x 15″ x 3″ and is $280.
Robin: This unisex leather bag from the Smiths collection is camouflage in colour and is the opposite of its Smith sibling bag, Sam, as it is more casual (with Sam being more business like with its metal handle). Like the Amelia bag, the Robin has a cellphone compartment in the front. The bag is 14″ x 12″ x 3″ and costs $280.
Also available is a line of wallets (Wallies). All bags are available for purchase from the Neiko Designs website or on Etsy.

Neiko bags are beautifully constructed and functional. In a time where most bags are mass produced, they offer handmade, uniqueness.
