The concept of Barney’s Bling started in 2007 when Bridget Livingston met Barney, a Yorkie in Chicago. As Barney’s fur mommy, she gave Barney doggie accessories, but found that they were falling apart easily. She searched every pet store to find something that Barney deserved, but wasn’t able to find anything. Bridget, therefore decided to start her own line. That was when Barney’s Bling was born.
The philosophy behind the Santa Monica-based operation is that pets “make a paw print in [their human's] heart” thereby connecting pet and human in a sophisticated manner. The collection includes:
Heartpaw Dog Tag: This pendant is available for humans and for their BFFs (Best Fur Friends), this is Barney’s Bling’s signature design. The pendant, which is handcrafted with gold and diamonds comes in two sizes. The smaller one is 25 mm in diametre, with 0.59 carats and 113 G 18K gold (selling at $3,150), while the larger pendant is 35 mm in diametre, with 1.43 carats and 20 G 18K gold ($4,830).
Heart Bone Ring: Trinity band ring with a bone “tying the love of everyone together.” Comes in silver (7.75g of Sterling Silver, $110), gold (7.75g of 14K gold, $280) and gold with diamonds (Diamonds: vs clarity and f color, 0.10 carat weight, 7.75g of 14K gold, $800). Rings are handcrafted in LA.
Heart Bone Mommy Bracelet: Bracelet version of the Heart Bone Ring, a trinity band bracelet with a small open back. Comes in silver (made with 27 g of sterling silver, $125), gold (27 G of 14K gold, $700) and gold with diamonds (Diamonds: vs clarity and f color, 0.15 carats and 27G of 14K gold, $1,450).
Five Row Swarovski Crystal collar: Made of Ultrasuede, a unique fabric imported from Japan, often used for car interiors. The collar is also very durable, breathable and completely vegan!
In addition to pendants, rings, collars and other jewellery, Barney’s Bling also sells t-shirts for the fashionista/fashionisto in you or your BFF.
Every Barney’s Bling piece is California-made. and the diamonds used are conflict-free. In addition, 10% of all Barney’s Bling purchases are split evenly between Autism Speaks and Perfect Pet Animal Rescue of Santa Monica. Barney’s Bling is available online.
