Former TV writer/producer, Emily Lau, launched The Little Bra Company in 2007 because she no longer wanted to “make do” with the types of bras she had. It wasn’t that they were too small. Actually, they were too big. In order for Emily, who is small-framed, to have bras which fit her properly (and make her have some shape), she either wore padded bras (which looked like pillows) or had to twist the cups closer together, which was uncomfortable. She knew that she wasn’t alone, considering that so many women are small-framed.

Bijou – $58 (not available in 28 and 30 bands)
The Little Bra Company’s bras come in both unusual sizes as well as more “regular” sizes. For example, The Little Bra Company carries band sizes as small as 28 (going up to a 36 band size), with cups ranging from AA to B. The bras, which come in “smooth” cups as well as lacy cups, are also slightly smaller – a 34B Little Bra Company bra, for example, has a slightly smaller band and the cups are also closer together than other brands. Sizes 28 and 30 were recently launched to give more options to the smaller-framed to look good and feel sexy (only newer styles are available in these band sizes). The Little Bra Company also has a collection of panties, which includes thongs and boy shorts.

Lucia in peony/tangerine – $55
Of course, like all businesses, Emily had some challenges when The Little Bra Company launched. For example, it was difficult to get people to understand the need for smaller bras – many thought that “everything was petite already” and there wasn’t “a need” – likely because most people who wear a band size smaller than 32 is a tween in a training bra. Luckily, people are slowly beginning to understand that there are adults who are smaller than a 32 band as well – after all, 28 and 30 band sizes can be found a lot easier in Europe and Asia.
