On April 30, 2009, some 800 people joined honourary co-chairs, Ben Mulroney and his wife, Jessica Brownstein at the Ontario Science Centre for the LG Innovators’ Ball to raise money for its community access and outreach programs. The event, nicknamed “Femme Fatale” and inspired by the new exhibit, The Science of Spying, was attended by a list of who’s who, including supermodel/TV personality Monika Schnarre, Cleophée Eaton, and The Society Founder Ashleigh Dempster, raised $350,000 in total, the highest to date.
The Ball was preceded by a dinner catered by reknowned chef Susur Lee, who recently opened Shang, a restaurant located in the Soho district of Manhattan. Catering for the ball itself was from Toronto-area Sequel. Goodies served at the ball included poutine, mini roast beef sandwiches as well as a variety of other “nibblies.” (note: both Sequel and Shang have been reviewed in Prospere Magazine).
Like many other Toronto-area parties, many of the event sponsors and supporters had booths. LG, the title sponsor, had products or logos through out the venue. Starbucks had a stand near the registration desk and representatives from YSL cosmetics did touch ups. Audi Canada was the automotive sponsor. Dinner guests were entertained by jazz sensation, Cara Matthews, and later in the evening, sounds were provded by DJ Scratch.
Guests definitely had an amazing time and everyone will be looking forward to next year’s event!
Excellent blog post. I couldn’t agree more actually. You have gained a regular reader!
