Up and Coming Social Club ‘Toronto Business Casual’ host a Salsa and Social Networking Night for Young Professionals in T.O.!

 Jenna Kashmiri (JK)

Toronto Business Casual” (TBC), a new, exciting Toronto-based social club, geared to busy career professionals in their 20s, 30s and 40s in the Greater Toronto Area, recently hosted A Spanish Affair a fun night of mojitos, tapas, mingling with new and old friends Salsa dancing lessons and even a competition.

This event was held Fuzion, located at Church and Wellesley. By the time we arrived shortly after 7pm the event was buzzing and fairly packed! We introduced our selves at the door and were immediately directed to our host,Tanya May, Social Director and one of the founders of TBC.

Since this was our first time a TBC event we weren’t sure what to expect but we were pleasantly impressed by the stylish yet friendly professionals who were there. Most girls were wearing summery type dresses and the guys were wearing smart slacks and either button down shirts or golf shirts. It did not feel stuffy like most networking events! People seemed very relaxed and comfortable.

As I made my way around the room trying to talk to some of the guest and get their pictures I was delighted to see a few old faces even one of my old high school friends who I hadn’t seen in ages! I found out that she now lived in Stouffville (a small country town about 45 minutes north of Toronto)! I was amazed that she had come so far for this event. She mentioned to me that she had been to a few other events and enjoyed them and felt it was worth the drive! I mingled with quite a few other people and found out TBC had a following and that many people had been to some of there other events.

After a bit of mingling it was time to heat things up a bit with the group Salsa lesson started, it was lead by professional Latin dance instructor from Love to Dance studios. The crowd was certainly not shy at all to join in and participate, most people seemed to be enjoying themselves. If this wasn’t enough excitement there was a Salsa competition with 4 pairs of contestants competing for a very large gift basket that was donated generously from one of the sponsors of the event, Havana Club.

What a fantastic networking event! I’m sure you will find me at another one of there up coming events!

Please be sure to visit TBC’s website: Also be sure to sign up to become a member (it’s FREE!) and it automatically signs you up for any email event alerts!

TBC’s Social director, Tanya May, has also gave me some inside information on what to expect in the next few months from TBC:

“Our next event will be Urban Boot Camp – sponsored by Naked Juice.

We will have our members track down to University of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium, to engage in a series of cardio and strength training exercises by an expert Sports Trainer, followed by a nutritious lunch as Fresh on Bloor. This will fall under the purview of our new Jock and Jockettes Series.

A few other upcoming series, if you would like to mention, are:

  • Taste of Nations Series (we have our members nosh on delicious ethnic foods, they wouldn’t ordinarily experience.)
  • Urban Jungle Series (sightseeing in unique Toronto locations, followed by a picnic or brunch)
  • Linguistic Lounge Series (members will learn a new language in an authentic way)
  • Creative Expressions Series (photography lesions; dance, playing a new instrument, etc)
  • Many more to come!”
