If you want to enjoy a night of eco-friendly fashion while supporting a good cause, you should attend “Growing Trends: An Evening of Eco-Friendly Fashion and Art” which is happening on Saturday, June 13th at the Hart House located at the University of Toronto.
This fashion show will raise funds for the charity YETI (Youth Education and Training Initiatives) Canada where proceeds will go towards their Scholarship Program which will help with education expenses for youth in Nepal. YETI supports education and training for underprivileged youth globally.
In addition to supporting this charity, the show will also give an outlet for Toronto designers to showcase their environmentally-friendly clothing.
“The second objective is to showcase local Toronto designers who focus on eco-friendly fashion where they use either locally-produced, organic materials or refurbishing existing clothing into something new,” said Shaq Haq, co-director of the show and who is also a fashion designer himself.
After the runway show, clothes will be auctioned off where proceeds will go towards YETI Canada. There will also be an art exhibit featuring local artists showcasing their work.
Doors will open at 7pm and the runway show will start at 8pm. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can but $5 is the suggested donation. It’s also suggested that patrons should bring money for the auction after show. Seats for the runway portion of the show can also be reserved by emailing growing.trends@gmail.com.
