Masked at the GenNext Rouge Fundraiser

The United Way and its youth division GenNext held its annual Rouge fundraiser on Saturday, November 14 to great success. Held at One King West, the sold out Masquerade Gala drew a crowd of twenty and thirty-somethings set to enjoy the red-hot music and people-watching.
This is the seventh year of Rouge and all 800 tickets were sold out many days before the event and it was great to see almost everyone wearing masks. In the spirit of the evening, attendees all had at least a touch of Rouge, and in many cases wore red masks.
The event was hosted by Lainey (above) from Laineygossip.com who sparkled in the spotlight. The organizers had arranged tarot card readers, palmists, a silent auction and dance performances. There were also live performances by a variety of bands as well as beats by DJs Dave LaMerde and Dougie Boom
The evening was an unqualified success and was definitely worth attending. Its price point of $30 was also extremely reasonable for the quality of the event and considering a very nice swag bag full ofbeauty products was given to all at the end. That being said, some of the dance performances seemed incongruous to a Masquerade Gala and the crowd was disportionately female.
All proceeds go to the United Way Toronto Community Fund which supports “a network of over 200 member agencies providing health and social services support to thousands of people across this city.” If you were unable to attend Rouge, but would like to make a donation, you can do so at www.unitedwaytoronto.com.
